Kurt joined NEWS Magazin, the largest weekly in Austria, in October 1996. Kurt studied Business Administration in Vienna (Vienna University of Economics and Business). Kurt disclosed the (secret) contract of sale between the austrian ministry of defence and the eurofighter-consortium in may 2006 which led to a parlamentarian investigation committee. Kurt made the so-called "part of the game"-scandal public in 2010 which led to the resignation and conviction of the former carinthian leader of the right-wing freedom party. Kurt's reporting on the Hypo Alpe Adria scandal was summoned to an illegal interrogation by Vienna state prosecutors in autumn 2011 and led to the conviction of the former CEO of the Bank.
His articles about the offshore-companies of Herbert Stepic led to the resignation of the Raiffeisen Bank International CEO in May 2013. The austrian Magazin "Extradienst" listed Kurt as "best political editor" in austria in 2010 and 2012. The Magazin "Der Österreichische Journalist" ranked him as the "best journalist on investigative topics" in 2011. Kurt's best-selling book "Land der Diebe" ("Country of thieves") was published in 2011.
