He began his career at JB radio where was a Reporter, producer, chief Reporter and broadcaster. In December 1981, Azevedo started at the TV Globo.
In 1982, hired as a special correspondent, Azevedo covered the elections for governor in the Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro states. In 1991, he was the first journalist to report a fraud in the Brazilian Social Security system with documents showing that great amounts of money were moved at the São João de Meriti Forum (Rio de Janeiro). The scandal ended with the arrest of lawyer Jorgina Maria de Freitas Fernandes in 1997.
In 2001, Azevedo won the Embratel Journalism Award for revealing the bad conditions of private universities, specially the entrance examination. He keep up with an illiterate boy admitted by the exam of two faculties of Rio de Janeiro.
Recently received the Barbosa Lima Sobrinho Award for the work "The face of corruption". The story, conducted with journalists Renato Nogueira and Eduardo Faustini, used hidden camera to show frauds on bids in a federal public hospital.
