Graduated in journalism for the Communications School of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Worked for O Estado de S.Paulo and Folha de S.Paulo branch offices in Rio and was chief of reporting team for O Globo. In 1996, started working at TV Globo, where was special reporter for Fantastico show and several news programs. One of his works received, in 2004, the Vladimir Herzog prize. In 2008, became editor for the O Dia newspaper column Informe do Dia. Writes weekly for the column Estacao Carioca, from the same newspaper. Organized and coordinated the MBA Program in Investigative Journalism and Brazilian Reality for Fundacao Getulio Vargas.

Former member of Abraji directors board, has organized, for the institution, three collections of stories: 10 reportagens que abalaram a ditadura, 50 anos de crimes e 11 gols de placa. The books are part of the Investigative Journalism collection, from Record editor. Took part on the interview with Betinho (Brazilian activist) that resulted in the book No fio da navalha (Revan) and has published articles in the book O livro das grandes reportagens (Globo) and Mídia e violência (Cesec).

Is author of romances Notícias do Mirandão, O ponto da partida (both for Record), Bandeira negra, amor (Objetiva) and the juvenile O misterioso craque da Vila Belmira (Rocco). Notícias do Mirandão was published in Germany by Editora Nautilus. Has also launched the reporting book O homem que morreu três vezes (Record), which won honor mention in Vladimir Herzog prize. Wrote for the selection Dicionário amoroso da língua portuguesa (Casa da Palavra) and 10 cariocas (Ferreyra Editor, Córdoba). Was finalist for Jabuti prize twice.
